Paper, Pencils and Patience.

Before I moved in Berlin to embrace a career of Senior Concept Artist, I was making a living as a Comic Book artist. It was almost like having 3 different jobs. I was painting covers regularly, painting sequential (way) less regularly and then finally I was drawing commissions.

This was a bit scary since I left traditional tools for more efficiency and that took me some time to get used to it but then switching back to paper was like reverse thinking.

Composing a picture on computer is so convenient that I would sometimes still sketch on it then I’d print the sketch and rework to a final stage on paper. The toughest part would be choosing the colors ahead.

It was challenging but I had fun nonetheless. I’ll maybe get back to it someday.

All of these sketches were done with 2B pencils, black Ecoline, watercolor pencils and some white gouache.
